Are You Having Trouble With Your HP Printer?

If you have used the printer before without problems, try these options:

• Make sure the network works and check that the equipment is correctly connected to the network.
• Check the status of the printer in the print queue or go to the printer to make sure it is turned on and ready for use.
• If the printer is connected to another computer and shared on the network, check that the computer is turned on. If it is on and the problem persists, contact the owner of the equipment to make sure that the equipment is connected to the network.
• If you are trying to print to a printer that you added with a TCP / IP address instead of a printer name, make sure the computer is connected to the Internet or to the network where the printer is installed. If you recently had a power outage, the printer's TCP / IP address may have changed. The new address will not work with the printer port that you used to connect the printer to the computer. Try adding the printer again.

During a Remote Desktop session, you can use the printer to print documents stored on the remote computer. You will need to configure everything just before connecting. The settings will be saved so you do not need to change them the next time you connect.

1. To open Remote Desktop Connection, click the Start button, All Programs, Accessories and finally Remote Desktop Connection.

2. Click Options and then the Local Resources tab.

3. Under Local Devices and Resources, check the Printers box.

4. Click Connect to start the session.

Be sure to select the printer in the Print dialog box, each time you print.

This is a difficult problem to diagnose because there are many printers on the market and there can be many reasons why a printer will not print.

First, make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the Windows computer according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Then try updating the printer driver on your computer. Sometimes printing problems are caused by the driver software being out of date and simply installing or reinstalling the latest driver to fix the problem.

To find the latest driver for your printer, use Windows Update, which detects the hardware connected to your computer and automatically notifies you when new drivers are available:

• To open Windows Update, click the Start button, All Programs, and then Windows Update.
• In the left pane, click Check for updates and wait while Windows checks for the latest updates for your computer.
• If you find any updates, click Install updates.

A print queue manager is software that temporarily stores print jobs on your computer's hard drive or memory until the printer is ready to print them.

Suppose you have waited an unusually long time for a document to print, or you see an error message about the print job manager, the print queue subsystem, or the print queue resources. In that case, you may need to change the Administrator service print job on the computer and then restart it.
