Importance of LED Printers

LED printers are used frequently, but this series printer can produce efficient results. Due to their reliability and efficiency, LED printers are the best option than conventional printers. It has a quick response rate or print rates as compared with some of the laser design output. Compared with some other printers, LED printers are less costlier and productive.

Working of LED Printers

The working of LED printers is quite similar to laser printers it contains a photoreceptive drum with a surface and is effectively charged with a high-voltage static wire. The negative static charge in an LED printer, on the other hand, is generated by a strip of LEDs placed above or below the drum.

The pattern of light from the LEDs strikes the positive charges drum and erases the charge where it falls, leaving a negative charge in the picture of the page being printed. Positively charged powdered printer toner is then sprayed onto the drum, sticking where the LEDs have formed a negative charge.

When the paper reaches the printer's mechanism, it is positively charged by a separate high voltage cable, which absorbs toner from the negatively charged sections where it has stuck when it is forced past the printing drum. Until exiting the printer, the sheet of paper moves between two heated rollers, fusing the toner to the page.

Advantages and Disadvantages of LED Printers

  • On principle faster than laser printers
  • Requires less mechanical movement in comparison to laser printers
  • Usually, less power is required compared to laser printers
  • They're smoother because they don't need any components to move the image to the photoreceptive drum, unlike laser printers that require a rotating mirror. They can also be more lightweight due to the lack of moving pieces.
  • They're more dependable because they don't have any moving parts that might crack over time. Printing is quicker since the negative charge on the photoreceptive drum is a generation in fewer steps.

LED printers save energy as compared to laser printers because LEDs are commonly known to be extremely energy-efficient. The drum life is shortened when used for frequent short jobs. Full speed potential is not immediately obvious unless used for high volume printing.
