11 Most Common Printer Issues and Their Solutions

11 Most Common Printer Issues and Their Solutions

Printers are a great tool at the office that helps us do what no other machine does – print our documents. But sometimes, they stop working and start acting weird at the most unexpected moments.

It is normal to feel like getting a bat and hit the printer hard with it. However, jokes aside, what should we do in such a situation? In this post from Printer Helpers, we are going to tell you some steps to solve the most common errors in most printer brands.

1. The paper is jammed in the printer.

One of the reasons the printer swallows paper is because the sheets are damp. For this reason, we always recommend aerating the pages and separating them from each other, before placing them in the inbox. It may also be due to the toner being misplaced, the size of the sheets is not suitable, or the sheets are misplaced.

When this happens and the paper is stuck, do not follow your instincts and pull the paper as it could tear and stay inside, as well as damage the internal components of the printer. Almost all printers have a hatch at the top through which the printer can be opened and the paper can be carefully removed.

The most advisable thing is to consult the printer's instruction manual, you will find a section that indicates HP printer problems, for example. It will tell you how your printer can be opened to remove jammed paper.

Handle the rollers until all the paper comes out and gently pull, without struggling, the most visible part until it comes out completely. Check that there is no piece of paper left in the toner and put the toner incorrectly. When you have removed all the paper and verified that there are no remains inside the printer, put new sheets back to print.

To avoid a paper jam inside the printer, make sure that the sheets are not curled and that they can be inserted correctly into the machine. In addition, the sheets must be the size that the printer requires to avoid printing errors.

2. The printer does not turn on.

Another of the most common printer errors that you sometimes have to deal with is the machine not turning on.

The first thing you should do is check the condition of the cable that connects the power of the machine with the current. You can disconnect it from both parts and reconnect it in case it has become loose or if the plug contains dust and therefore does not make contact. If this is not the first time this problem has occurred with the cable, it is a good time to call Canon technical service and have it replaced with a better one.

If the problem is not with the cable, check the power button and if it is turned on and is not stuck in its place.

If none of this solves your problems or does not relate to the problem you have, call our printer technical assistance to get it done.

3. Misalignment of lines and colours in the prints.

Have you ever had problems with the printer because the content is not rendered the way you want it to? Do the words overlap and the colours do not permeate well.

If your prints show unsightly lines, go to your computer's control panel, select printing preferences, or printer properties, find the section related to printer maintenance that causes the problem, and click on the 'Alignment Head Cleaning 'or' Head Cleaning 'and follow the prompts.

If you do not find this menu and want help in following these steps, contact our technical service.

4. The device does not recognize the printer.

This is a very common printing problem. In addition, it usually arises in the worst moments, when we are in a hurry. Keep calm, it has a solution.

Check if the USB cable causes the problem, and if the cable or connector is damaged, replace it. If the printer is wireless, you will need to verify that the network is not experiencing problems. On the other hand, the problem could be with the printer driver, which is outdated or missing.

To fix this, search the Internet for the latest Windows or Mac driver for your printer model and download it. It will only take a few minutes. Call us to resolve your windows 10 printer issues and get the latest and correct drivers to install on your device.

5. Error message or alarms.

If your printer has a display, read the message displayed on the display; It will tell you what steps to take to solve printing problems. If instead of the screen, the printer reports an error by bells or LED warnings, consult the printer manual to know what type of problem each alarm frequency refers to and how to solve it. Every printer has its own trick.
If you are unable to understand the issue or fear that you might make the problem worse, it is better to call printer helpers to guide you.

6. The print colour is poor.

It is very likely that in this case the ink cartridges are running out or original Canon printer ink has not been used (if this is the brand of your printer). Check the condition of the ink and replace it if necessary. If the problem is that the letters or symbols are not printed in their entirety or parts are missing, it may be because the ink cartridge is clogged, in this case, perform the printer cleaning process.

7. Print is blurred or blotchy.

This problem may be because the choice of paper has not been adequate, that is why we always advise that we take care of the quality of the sheets that we are going to use in the printer. To fix the blurry or smudged print glitch, you can adjust this before printing, setting a low quality for text documents or raising it for photos and graphic prints.

8. When replacing the consumable the printer still does not print.

In this case, remove the cartridge that you have just replaced, turn off the printer, turn it on again, and reinstall the cartridges, first removing the protective strip that they contain.

If this doesn't work you may need to reset the printer. Search the Internet for the model of your printer. For example, Epson ecotank printer reset instruction (if this is yours), you will find in detail how to reset your machine.

If the technical language of the instruction set overwhelms you, you should get help from printer helpers.

9. The printer returns a blank page after printing.

It is possible that the content sent to print contained a blank sheet, please check and try again. It may be an error with the amount of consumables, please check it.

It may also be the case that the software is corrupted and therefore loads blank pages. To solve this, unplug the cable from the printer, uninstall the printer software, and then reinstall it. Here is how to do it.

10. The printer software is not working properly.

If the software is causing problems, you should reinstall it on your computer. First, uninstall the software package on the control paper, restart the computer, visit the printer manufacturer's website, and install the latest version of the software.

If you uninstall the printer software, you may be able to continue printing with the basic default setting on your device.

If you do not find the solution to your problem, do not hesitate to contact us. At Printer Helpers, your one-stop solution for all printer issues, we have a great technical service offered by skilled professionals in the sector.

11. There are connection problems with mobile devices.

Many users complain that they have printing equipment that is compatible with mobile printing but does not actually connect to their handheld devices.

While blaming technology can be tempting, the truth is that, in most cases, this is due to misuse of this feature. Although a printer works through mobile printing, it needs to connect to the smart device (smartphone or tablet) through an application that is compatible with it.

In the case of Apple, the app to be downloaded is AirPrint and, on Android devices, Google Cloud Print.

Many brands have also released free applications to establish a connection between handheld devices and their printers, as in the case of HP, Canon, and Brother.
